Our Story
Merrick Management, Inc. (MMI) was started as a division of Barr and Taylor, CPA’s in 1975 and was formally incorporated in 1984 under the direction and ownership of Mr. Garland H. Barr, III, CPA. MMI is a Professional Services Organization designed to provide a full range of revenue cycle management, practice management and accounting services exclusively for anesthesia and interventional pain management practices.
In 2001, Mr. Barr recruited Kelly Ison, Ryan Nunnelley, and Richard Schoff to assist with management, growth, and client relations at MMI. Since that time, MMI has expanded its anesthesia footprint from approximately 10 groups with 100 providers to over twenty groups and 550+ plus providers at 70+ facilities in the Southeast and Midwest. MMI’s goal and track record is to assist anesthesia groups with growth, compliance, and financial success.
Garland H. Barr, III, CPA
Founder
Mr. Barr is the founder of Merrick Management and the accounting firm of Barr, Anderson and Roberts, PSC. Mr. Barr provided comprehensive practice management services to anesthesia groups within central Kentucky for over 35 years prior to his retirement. His knowledge of the health care industry, anesthesia practice, tax and financial planning, new practice development and accounts receivable management has propelled Merrick Management into one of the most respected and modeled companies in anesthesia practice management. Mr. Barr received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1971. Mr. Barr retired in 2012 at the age of 68.
